Kirsten Mueller is Miss German-America

Rooted in Bavaria and Palatinate, 21-year-old Steuben Parade Queen appreciates link to her heritage

After vowing the jury with her activities in the German-American community and after impressing the audience with her knowledge of German influence on American culture, the vote was in: Kirsten Mueller, a 21-year-old college student from Dix Hills, NY was crowned Miss German-America and will be the Queen of the upcoming 55th German-American Steuben Parade.

Elise Wilkinson, a former GSC student, is one of the two princesses to Miss German-America!

"Pay attention!" If nothing else works, Marianne Diekmann uses an English phrase that every one of her 9- to 11-year-old pupils knows all too well.

The children at the German School of Connecticut, about 30 of whom come from Greenwich, are studying a fairytale about a pirate who lived several hundred years ago. They read the tale in German.

WH 6th Grader Excels on Test

Bristol Observer 3 2 2012 1In January, Alena Hauer of Bristol took the Standard AATG (American Association of Teachers of German) National High School Examination, level 3, at the German School of Connecticut (GSC) in West Hartford.

Alena is a 6th grader at Immanuel Lutheran School in Bristol.
